Last november 16-25, i went on a backpacking trip. it wasn't some sort of "looking-forward-trip-so-i-can-post-something-on-facebook"..it was more of..
I did this because I-wanted-to-trip..I'm-doing-this-for-myself-trip..
I decided to leave my "tourist" self and bring the traveler in me..
The plan was to meet Wirika at Kuala Lumpur, on which she will be coming from Melbourne heading to Clark, then meet Joc at Singapore and get ourselves all the way to Bangkok.
So basically, our route was like this..
From Manila, we took a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
From Kuala Lumpur, we flew to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with a 12 hour layover in Singapore, Singapore.
Boarded a 12 hour bus from Ho Chi Minh to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
From Siem Reap, took another almost 12 hour bus to Bangkok, Thailand.
And finally took a flight home (Manila) from Bangkok.
And so..
We waited for seatsales..
Contacted some guesthouses..
And waited for November..
And November came...
Oh, and by the way the deal was we have to accomplish this trip under Php 30,000. Oh yeah.
Our first stop was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
There's nothing much to see in KL. However, Petronas Tower was amazing. Even breathtaking at night.
full moon at Petronas Tower
For the most part of our stay, we went loitering around Kuala Lumpur. KL transit map always stuck between our nose and having KL Sentral our tambayan.
This is where I first tasted KFC other than in the Philippines and it was uggghh. I can't describe the taste. And the bad part is there's no gravy!
Kaya nung pagkadating ko dito, one week ata akong nagKFC. Dine in ha, because of their gravy refill hanggang magsawa ako.
To kill time we took KL's My Hop On Hop Off bus. For 38RM, we were able to see KL's tourist attractions in a short time. I had fun riding the double decker bus watching foreigners getting on and getting off at certain tourist spots.
The idea of the Hop On Hop Off bus is you can tour KL at your own pace. Just go to their site. www.myhoponhopoff.com

Sri Mahamariamman Temple
Chinatown
Menara Tower
We had dinner at Bukit Bintang. Food wasn't really good. Too spicy and too much sauce. That's what we get for ordering names we cannot understand or haven't heard of.
Good thing there were desserts..libre ni Wirika
Walking around the area, we saw this upscale mall, all dressed up for the holidays. We killed time just walking and observing the nightlife scene. Pretty much like Malate area if you ask me.
That ends our first day.
On our second day, we were planning to go to Batu Caves then to Genting Highlands. But of course, we woke up late and missed the bus to Genting Highlands. So its just Batu Caves for us.
It was a holiday at the time so there were alot of people climbing the stairs up, steep 272 stairs, that is. Climbing up wasn't really that pleasant. The place smells because of monkeys roaming the place. Imagine us gasping for that unpleasant smell while climbing. We saw the locals how they worship their Hindu deities. Just like us, going to the church.
Because we missed the bus going to Genting Highlands, we were at the airport early. Turned out, we were at the wrong airport. We were at LCCT but we were supposed to be at KLIA, which was almost an hour ride from LCCT. So, it was really a good thing that we missed the bus to Genting.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport was nothing like LCCT.
We were just in time for boarding. It was almost nine in the evening and we haven't had our dinner. I guess we will just be having our dinner at Singapore with Joc.
..next Singapore...
30KPhp?! you selfish cow, you should have invited me in!!! every piece of my gut hates you! JK.lol. karma consoled me by making you miss the bus to genting. *devilish laugh*
